I began studying Buddhist philosophy in my late 30’s. This painting, the tenth in the series, brings the three aspects of my research query together: What commonality(s) if any, might exist between eastern, western and indigenous peoples who traversed this land? The answer I came to through all of my interviews, dreamwork, and what literature I could lay my hands on at the time was that all shared a love of the land, albeit with very different ways of honouring it. My uncle, in his late 80’s, still lives on the farm in southwest Saskatchewan and will likely never leave. His love of the land, and the animals, is apparent.
